Congratulations to the Theatre Division Student of the Month for April... Joseph Gans from Eastern Florida State College! Joseph was nominated by his advisor, Jeanine Henry. He is pictured here in the production The Comedy of Errors where Joey played Dromio of Syracuse.
Here's what Jeanine shared with us about Joey: "Joey is a talented young man who has been very active in our theatre program, playing such roles as Dromio of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors, Xavier in Prague Summer, Interviewer in The Total Spiritual, and Nick in The Guys. He also served as Assistant Director and Stage Manager for A Song For Coretta. Joey is a valuable member of our production team, helping with costumes, props, and lugging equipment to and from our amphitheater. He is hungry to learn and asks probing, thoughtful questions which benefit all of the students.
Joey leads by example, learning his lines early, developing his character, and continually striving to improve his performance. He reaches out to the less-experienced members of the team and generously offers his advice and help. He was an effective assistant director/stage manager for A Song For Coretta, giving thoughtful notes to the cast and ensuring the play ran smoothly. Joey has modeled flexibility, grace, and ease in navigating the challenges of acting in a pandemic, especially as cast members were absent from rehearsal due to quarantine. He is a terrific young man and well-deserving of commendation"
Congratulations to this stellar student, Joey Gans, our Theatre Student of the Month for April! Thank you to Ms. Henry for nominating him.
