FCSSGA Student of the Month for May: Perie Shah

FCSSGA Student of the Month for May: Perie Shah

Congratulations to our FCSSGA Student of the Month for May... Perie Shah from College of Central Florida! Perie was nominated by her advisor Hunter Karius!

Here is what he had to say about Perie:

"Perie Shah is a full-time, pre-med student at the College of Central Florida’s Citrus Campus. I first met
Perie in November 2022 when she became one of my academic advisees. I could immediately tell that
Perie is emboldened with a passion for curriculum rich in science and math, coupled with a strong desire
for serving others.

Perie currently holds a position as a student worker in our Student Affairs department. My colleagues and
I agree that Perie’s alacrity is felt throughout our office and around campus. In addition to her role in the
Student Affairs office, Perie is also President of the Student Activities Board. Perie’s leadership as SAB
President has remained perpetual and progressive despite having a large course load joined with
substantial involvement in supplementary organizations. Perie has been instrumental in the planning and
execution of unprecedented events on campus, which I believe has a non-stop connection to the
revitalization of campus life after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In November 2022, Perie decided to take her student government responsibilities to a regional level when
she took on the role of region two service chair. During her tenure in this position, Perie fronted the
region service project, collecting blankets and socks to benefit impoverished communities. Perie also
collaborated with region colleges and the state executive board to amass more than eighteen pounds of
can tabs to benefit south Florida natural disaster victims. Perie has proudly represented the Citrus Campus
at every Florida College System Student Government Association conference throughout the 22-23
academic year.

Perie has also served our campus as a Student Ambassador, as an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, and
Hands on Hunger. Perie also organized a bake sale and enlisted the help of her friends to raise money for
the conflict in Ukraine – raising nearly $500. In her spare time, Perie has obtained more than seventy
observation hours at Citrus Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.

We will greatly miss Perie’s presence when she matriculates to the University of Florida in the fall to
pursue a bachelors degree in biology as a stepping stone to a career in medicine. However, we know that
her kind heart and outgoing nature will make her an asset to any team."

Congratulations Perie! Thank you Mr. Karius for nominating her!
