Student Government Student of the Month #1: March

Student Government Student of the Month #1: March

Back again with another SOTM! Congratulations to one of the FCSSGA Students of the Month for March… Juwaan Jenkins from State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota! Juwaan was nominated by his advisor, Michelle Puls.

Here is what Michelle told us about why Juwaan deserved this award: “Juwaan created a Black History Month Scavenger Hunt on the Bradenton and Venice campuses. The goal of the scavenger hunt was to get people to walk around campus and allow them to gain knowledge about black history. He chose lesser-known figures in Black History to expand everyone's knowledge. The Scavenger Hunt was a series of posters around campus, each poster had a photo, statement about that person, and a letter. The letters were used to get the codeword. If you got all eleven posters and sent in the code word to Student Life, you would receive a prize. Juwaan asked his fellow SGA members to help him create people for the event. Through his guidance, they were able to highlight Trailblazers, African American Women, and Allies.

Juwaan has been an amazing SGA President through these tough times. His commitment to SCF and his fellow SGA members has been amazing. He is a quiet leader who leads by example. He has met with several key administrators throughout the year to continue the dialogue on social justice and equality.”

What an honor to acknowledge multiple SGA Students of the Month (the others TBA). Congratulations to Juwaan, one of our SGA Students of the Month, and thank you to Ms. Puls for nominating him!
