Publications Student of the Month: October 2021

Congratulations to the FCSAA Publications Division Student of the Month for October…Camila Ramirez from Miami Dade College - Eduardo J. Padrón Campus! Camila was nominated by her advisor, Emily Sendin.

Here is what Sendin shared with us about Camila: “Camila Ramirez is a gifted artist who has been part of Urbana’s layout and art design team since 2020. Her contributions to Urbana’s volume 14 have earned her a College Media Association best cover finalist recognition. She created a variety of layouts that brought to life our utopia and dystopia theme. Her artistic vision, work ethic, and collegiate disposition make her an invaluable member of our team. In addition to art and layout design for volume 14, she also works on logo, art, and poster design for our events. In addition, she currently leads volume 15’s design and art teams, and she is working full steam ahead in new initiatives that will make our next volume memorable.

Apart from being a member of Urbana Literary and Arts magazine, she also demonstrates artistic and interdisciplinary involvement in other groups around our institution. Camila works for The Reporter, the news outlet of Miami Dade College, as an illustrator for the Forum section. Similar to her work in Urbana, she has to produce an illustration related to a certain manuscript. Outside her artistic work, she serves as secretary of the YES! Club, the environmental club on campus, where she arranges required paperwork and streamlines any events produced by the club. She is currently one of the Virtual Nicaraguan Reading program leaders, where she tutors children in rural Nicaragua via Zoom. She also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Honors College at Eduardo J. Padrón Campus.”

Congratulations to the spectacular Camila Ramirez, our Publications Student of the Month! Thank you, as well, Emily Sendin for nominating her.
