Model U.N. Student of the Month: February 2022

Model U.N. Student of the Month: February 2022

Let's hear it for our first Model UN Student of the Month in 2022! Congratulations to the FCSAA Model UN Division Student of the Month for February... Sean Rutten from Tallahassee Community College! Sean was nominated by his advisor, Dr. Tom Waller.

Here is why Tom thought Sean deserved this award: "Sean Rutten has been part of the Model UN team during his entire tenure at Tallahassee Community College. Not only has he earned a 4.0-grade point average during that time, but he consistently showed excellence in preparation for and performance at Model UN conferences. I've lost track of the number of distinctions he has won. If Sean is keeping count, you'd likely not know unless you pressed him. In the face of his accomplishments, Sean's humility, conscientiousness, and kind manner distinguish him all the more.

Sean is currently TCC Model UN President, as he takes coursework both at TCC and Florida State University. Despite the challenges this academic year has posed, he has led a team of over a dozen students to success at two conferences so far, with two more scheduled for the Spring. He has also recently served as Security Council committee Director at TSMUN, the Model UN conference that TCC’s team puts on for local high and middle school students. Sean demonstrates just how important student leaders are to college programs, and how they rise to the occasion when given the opportunity. This student of the month distinction only begins to recognize the debt TCC’s Model UN program owes him."

Congratulations, again, to our February Model UN SOTM and thank you to Dr. Tom Waller for taking the time to nominate Sean for this award!
