Congratulations to our Publications Student of the Month for March... Malissa McIntosh from Florida State College at Jacksonville! Malissa was nominated by her advisor, Jennifer Chase. Here is what Jennifer shared with us about Malissa:
"Malissa is a stoic, creative, contemplative, and enormously productive valued editorial staff member on The Experience. When I see someone quietly considering an obstacle or problem and how they can best apply their own talents and innovations to solve it without fanfare or commotion, it's impressive. Malissa is that student. While we sometimes feel the need to vent and commiserate, Malissa quietly weaves and elaborate, brilliant web wowing us with her modesty and prowess in organizational skills. Malissa also had the unique challenge of having to return to her home country of the Bahamas early in the semester. We don't have any idea how she did it, but she hasn't missed a beat, and in fact is often the first to arrive at our weekly meeting, and the last to leave. She has moved her magazine as well as class responsibilities online. Malissa has transformed and streamlined our procedures and processes and even found time to carve out for her own artistic submission thankfully to express her own artistic voice. Malissa has more reason than almost anyone to say she is busy, but she often is concerned that she isn't doing enough and is constantly offering to help others. She has impeccable timing and follow through and we are all grateful for her on our team.
Malissa has a unique ability to listen patiently to all others ideas and consider them before weighing in. Her ideas are well thought out. She spends a great deal of time researching past work in the magazine and practices before proposing changes. She has streamlined and simplified many of our organizational practices and documentation, creating easy to manage worksheets and spreadsheets. She has increased our database three fold making promotion for submissions, email blasts, calendar functions easy for the team to keep track of and optimize our time. We have dubbed her the Queen of Spreadsheets for this uncanny talent! Malissa has also moved out of her comfort zone pushing herself and her own talent creatively with Spanish Language submission videos and writing poetry. Malissa has made improvements that will benefit the magazine for years to come. We miss her, and can't wait for her to be physically back on campus, but the distance has not deterred her from being as productive as ever. Maybe we should all go to the Bahamas for our next FCSPA Meeting and thank her personally!"
Congratulations, Malissa! Thank you to Ms. Chase for nominating her for this recognition!
