LSUE's Dargin Keys Another Blowout Win Over Coastal

EUNICE, La. – Consider her the "sparkplug".  Arianna Dargin (Iowa HS), once again, came off the bench to help lift the Bengals to an 82-62 runaway win over Coastal Alabama-North for a second straight night.

The Iowa native pumped in 21 points, one night removed from a 14-point season opener.

"(Dargin) does such a good job of seeing opportunities," LSU Eunice head coach Amanda Clemons said.  "A lot of people are still keying in on Rylie (James) so Arianna is able to take advantage of that."

The Bengals roared out to a fast start, jumping on the Eagles with a 9-0 lead four minutes into the game. LSUE then went ice cold as Coastal was able to take its first lead of the game, 16-14, just before the first quarter horn.

The cold snap continued until midway through the second quarter.  Dargin keyed a 13-3 run in 2:00 to give the Bengals the lead back for good, 29-27.  The freshman scored six points in that stretch while Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) chipped in a pair of baskets.  Dargin scored eight points in the second quarter as the Bengals took a 37-30 advantage into the halftime break.

"We got cold and we were not going up for second chance opportunities," Clemons added.  "We turned up the pressure defensively and were able to get some easy baskets."

As was the case last night, the second half belonged to LSU Eunice.  The Bengals were able to stretch their lead to 15 points as Rylie James (Basile HS) and De'Asia Dixon (Huntington HS) knocked in back to back three pointers to push LSUE to a 56-41 edge late in the third quarter.

James scored 11 of her 16 points in the second half.  Gold was the other Bengals player to notch double digits, netting 15.

LSUE's home-heavy November continues Tuesday.  The ladies welcome San Jacinto College to town for a 6:00PM tip-off.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow inside the HPRE Center.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00PM.  Fans can also find the latest Bengals information on social media via Twitter (@LSUEBengalsWBB), Facebook (@LSUEuniceBasketball) and Instagram (@LSUEBengals).
