Congratulations to Joshua Sussman, Lake-Sumter State College, our Theatre Division Student of the Month for October. He was nominated by Ms. Heather Elmatti.
Here’s what Ms. Elmatti shared with us about Joshua: “Josh has grown tremendously over the past two years both as an actor as well as in his leadership skills. It has been exciting to see him step up and lead others as well. He has become an integral part of our Theatre Arts Society and Student Life leadership team at Lake-Sumter State College. Besides acting, Josh assisted with choreographing the fight scenes in Robin Hood and helped other cast members work on characterization. This year he has also stepped up in terms of leadership and currently serves as the Treasurer for the Student Government Association, as well as serving as a representative of the Theatre Arts Society. In our recent Children’s Theatre production, he served as the Stage Manager and mentor to several of the rookie actors besides holding a key role as the Mad Hatter.
Josh has participated in numerous productions including performing as Lysander in Midsummer Night’s Dream; as Robin Hood in the Children’s Theatre production of Robin Hood; as King Claudius in Hamlet; as the Mad Hatter in the Children’s Theatre production of Alice in Wonderland; and as the Mad Hatter in Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. He also received an academic award for speech and communications in May 2018.
Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Ms. Elmatti for taking the time to nominate him for this recognition.
