Congratulations to Emma Hopkins and Isabella Barbini, Eastern Florida State College, selected as our Theatre Division Students of the Month for April. They were nominated by Professor and Theatre Director Jeanine Henry.
Here’s what Professor Henry shared with us about Emma and Isabella: “Emma Hopkins and Isabella Barbini are a dynamic duo! They joined our Titans Theatre Club 3 years ago as dual-enrollment students and transformed the club’s attitude towards volunteerism and service. Emma and Izzy are quick to volunteer to usher, help on workdays, or make posters. For our production of The Busy Body, Emma served as Stage Manager and Izzy performed on stage and was in charge of props. I know that if I ask Emma or Izzy to take care of something, it will be done and done well. They are also delightful to have in our department and are well-liked by their peers.
Furthermore, Emma and Izzy transformed student attitudes toward volunteerism in our theatre club and department, making it a commonplace, expected thing to do. Emma has served as secretary of our Titans Theatre Club for the past 3 years. Izzy was just elected President. So much of their contribution has been as friends that I cannot separate them or their contributions. Although this award is typically for an individual, I would like to celebrate their interdependence and friendship. Together they found a theatre home with us when they were both looking for a new friend group. Although theatre may not be their college majors, they have blossomed by their involvement in our theatre activities. They are a testament to the value of extracurricular activities. They are a dynamic duo and their friendship is part of their strength.”
Congratulations to these outstanding students, and our thanks to Professor Henry for taking the time to nominate them for this recognition.
