Congratulations to our FCSAA September Student of the Month in our Student Government division, Jessica Valdes from Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus. Jessica was nominated by her advisor, Ms. Annielys Sosa. Here’s what Ms. Sosa shared with us about Jessica:
“Jessica is our current SGA Treasurer. Jessica has gone above and beyond her position in order to ensure our campus' SGA is well prepared, not only for the summer initiatives that were held, but also for the fall semester. This young lady works a part time job at Publix and interns in their pharmacy in order to excel in her academic field, in addition to serving on the SGA Executive Board full time. Jessica has received recognition from our Dean of Students and Campus President for her selfless commitment in SGA, having been inducted as an officer just two months ago. This young lady always shows up 30 minutes early to all meetings and is always the first to arrive when help for setup is required. Jessica has surpassed the language barrier, having finished her last level of English classes not long ago. She challenges herself and those around her constantly, proving deserving of the Student of the Month title.
Additionally, Jessica has helped in leading our SGA in the logistics, planning and executing of the first SGA Townhall this semester, where she led the conversation alongside a fellow e-board member with one of our state legislature candidates. She ensured our students were informed of all the candidates running for state positions, knowing the importance they play in decisions affecting our college system.”
Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Ms. Sosa for taking the time to nominate her!
