FCSAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Games from February 20-28
Kianna Conner, Broward
Sophomore, Guard
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Broward College’s Kianna Conner is this week’s FCSAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Conner, a sophomore from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., averaged 27.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two Southern Conference Tournament games. Simply put, Broward wouldn’t have won either game without Connor, who scored the decisive points from the free throw line in both games. Against Brevard on February 20 in the SoCon Tournament semifinal, Connor scored 31 points, the last two coming from the line to give Broward the 61-60 win. The next day, she scored 23 points and Broward won at Indian River State, 62-61, to punch its ticket to the postseason. With the Seahawks ahead by one, Connor extended the lead to three with a pair of free throws, which turned out to be the game-winning points after Indian River State hit a shot at the buzzer. For the week, Connor shot 44.2 percent (19-of-43) from the floor, 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the three-point stripe and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the free throw line
